Arcove Island Firewise Community is situated west of Arlington Avenue at the southern end of Kensington.
In 2025, we established our Firewise Community to reduce wildfire risk on our properties, plan for evacuation, and ensure our properties are defensible and safe for our first responders in the event of a wildfire.

This 15' x 50' slope was overgrown with vegetation, including a huge, hazardous juniper hedge. Flames would threaten both the home and the cars evacuating on Arlington Avenue. It's now been cleared and replanted with less fire-prone plants.
Each year, Arcove Island is required to submit a tally of its Firewise activities to maintain Recognition.
Residents can help by tracking their household's vegetation removal, as well as the time and money spent on Firewise activities.
