The Highland Hilltop Firewise Community includes Hilltop Elementary School along its northern edge, at the top of Kensington’s ridgeline bordering the East Bay Regional Park.
In 2025, we established our Firewise Community to reduce wildfire risk on individual properties and to collaborate with the school on traffic management and evacuation planning.

This 15' x 50' slope was overgrown with vegetation, including a huge, hazardous juniper hedge. Flames would threaten both the home and the cars evacuating on Arlington Avenue. It's now been cleared and replanted with less fire-prone plants.
Household Activity Reports ensure Firewise Recognition is renewed annually. They also help shape Kensington's wildfire programs.
Participating households track and report their risk reduction activities online or via email. Contact your organizers for details.
Organizers compile neighborhood numbers and report them to Firewise USA each year. Residents' personal information is never shared.
