The Kingston Firewise Community is in lower Kensington, with Sunset View Cemetery at its northwestern border.
In 2025, we established our Firewise Community to reduce wildfire risk on our properties, address hazardous vegetation and work on evacuation solutions for the network of streets west of Arlington Avenue.

This 15' x 50' slope was overgrown with vegetation, including a huge, hazardous juniper hedge. Flames would threaten both the home and the cars evacuating on Arlington Avenue. It's now been cleared and replanted with less fire-prone plants.
Household Activity Reports ensure Firewise Recognition is renewed annually. They also help shape Kensington's wildfire programs.
Participating households track and report their risk reduction activities online or via email. Contact your organizers for details.
Organizers compile neighborhood numbers and report them to Firewise USA each year. Residents' personal information is never shared.
