Maybeck Firewise Community is in southeast Kensington, along the ridgeline adjacent to the East Bay Regional Park.
One of the first two Firewise Communities in Kensington, it was established to reduce wildfire risk on properties, focus on fuel reduction on its shared border with the Park, and address evacuation issues to ensure a safe evacuation for streets feeding into Arlington Avenue.

This Maybeck side yard reduces risk by breaking up fuel pathways using a mix of materials and textures-- stone pavers, gravel, and isolated groupings of well-maintained herbaceous plants and succulents.
Household Activity Reports ensure Firewise Recognition is renewed annually. They also help shape Kensington's wildfire programs.
Participating households track and report their risk reduction activities online or via email. Contact your organizers for details.
Organizers compile neighborhood numbers and report them to Firewise USA each year. Residents' personal information is never shared.
